Clubs & Societies

We at St. Edmund's seek to provide pupils with as many opportunities of success as possible. To this end, teachers, non-teaching staff and many volunteers, are committed to the organisation of a large number of extra curricular activities and clubs.

For those pupils who show sufficient interest and commitment there is the opportunity to represent the school at football, rugby, netball, chess, swimming and cross-country running. Additionally, some children have the opportunity of learning to play the guitar and to join after-school clubs for Needlework, Boxercise and ICT.

The staff are extremely generous in giving their time to the organisation of Class Trips, Children's Discos, Family Social Evenings, Book Fairs, Class Assemblies etc., and the involvement of parents in all of these activities is encouraged and appreciated.

Parents and Staff meet regularly for social events such as BBQ Nights, Karaoke Evenings and Discos. Bingo is enjoyed twice each year and major fundraising events such as Christmas and Summer Fairs are extremely well supported by all. A Quiz Night for adults is usually held in February and a Family Car Rally and Treasure Hunt always proves popular during the Summer Term. In recent years, many of our children and adults have participated in several most enjoyable Family Rambles to Formby Pine Woods, Burscough Locks and along the Parbold Heritage Trail. Our first ever Murder Mystery Night was held on 23rd February 2002 and proved to be enormously popular. We have now incorporated Murder Mystery Nights into our regular calendar of events.
