Throughout the Foundation Stage we assist pupils' development in a global way. We aim to ensure that the understanding and skills which children develop will allow them, at the end of their Reception Year, to move smoothly into the National Curriculum and make a positive start to Key Stage One.
The important areas for development at this stage build on the pupils' current levels of understanding and attainment and encompass both physical as well as intellectual abilities.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development are given a high priority, as are Mathematics, Communication, Language and Literacy. Pupils spend time increasing their Knowledge and Understanding of the World and through Structured Play and Physical Education they are able to develop confidence and respect for others.
Our topics are based on those identified in the Archdiocesan Religious Education scheme Here I Am and provide opportunities for children to experience Christian teaching in a Catholic Primary School. Strong support for the school ethos is encouraged from the earliest age and we pride ourselves in having a considerate, caring and courteous approach at all times.
