Rubber Wristbands

Story Published - 17.10.2009

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

Extract from MailOnline:

"Thousands of young children are buying coloured wristbands every week. But parents have no idea of their true disturbing meaning..."

I am extremely grateful to the father of two of our pupils who came to speak with me earlier today. He told me about a serious matter - which has been reported in the national press and on the internet - concerning children all over the country and the wearing of coloured rubber wristbands. I will not go into detail here, but it is sufficient to say that by snapping the band of another, children are demanding forfeits of a most unsavoury nature. I must point out that I am not aware of this happening at St. Edmund's, but I am told that some children have been seen wearing the wristbands (or wristbands which are very similar).

Therefore, I must inform you that I will not allow the wearing of these rubber wristbands. If they are seen, they will be removed from the child and will be returned only when a parent or carer collects them from me.

Kind Regards,

David Ashley
Headteacher
