Physical Education


Through the teaching of Physical Education and Games we hope to develop pupils' physical competence and confidence as well as their ability to perform a range of activities requiring strength, speed, stamina, balance and agility. Physical Education and Games lessons are also expected to be fun and will, we hope, encourage our pupils to work cooperatively with others!

Content of Programme


Two single lessons of P.E. per week for all pupils

Key Stage One Pupils will be taught the knowledge, skills and understanding through:

a) Dance Activities
b) Games Activities
c) Gymnastics Activities


Pupils participate in a `Fun Sports Day' in the Summer Term.

Key Stage 2 Pupils will be taught knowledge, skills and understanding through:

a) Dance Activities
b) Games Activities
c) Swimming Activities
d) Athletic Activities

Pupils participate in an inter-house athletics tournament in the Summer Term.

Clothing Requirements


Gymnastics, Dance and Indoor Games:
Rubber soled slip on pumps or bare feet, burgundy shorts and white T-shirt


Outdoor Games:
Suitable warm clothing, a change of socks and trainers (Key Stage Two Pupils may also find it an advantage to wear football boots) are necessary. SHIN-PADS are essential for football.

Jewellery:
ALL items of jewellery should be removed for all P.E. lessons. (It is better left at home). Parents who wish to have their children's ears pierced should do so at the beginning of the Summer vacation.
